About the Event

Helena is based at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland's Highland Wildlife Park near Aviemore. She is responsible for engaging the local community and stakeholders with the ongoing efforts to restore Scotland’s wildcats.

Helena realised her passion for wildcat conservation during her BSc Geography, researching the public’s perceptions of wildcats for her dissertation, and continued researching the plight of Scotland’s wildcats during her MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management.

She has worked in the USA to engage communities in wildlife conservation and captive big cat welfare, and has held a number of engagement and outreach positions in the UK. As a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), Helena is excited to use her knowledge of public engagement to further the work of Saving Wildcats.
