Our Mission
The Scottish-American Women's Society of Washington, D.C. (SAWS) offers full membership to any female born in Scotland or who can document their Scottish ancestry. Associate memberships are available to any female that cannot yet trace their ancestry to Scotland, and to those that simply love all things Scottish.
SAWS exists to educate its members and the general public about Scottish and Scottish-American history, culture, and traditions; to celebrate the contributions of Scots and Scottish-Americans in the United States (with a focus on women's contributions); to promote, preserve, and perpetuate Scottish heritage, traditions, and customs; and to enhance the bonds between Scotland and North America, in particular the Washington, D.C. area.

Our Programs
Covid- 19 has changed how we operate, but we are ever evolving to give our members educational and social programming! Some activities are held online only, some are held in person, and yet others are held in person and streamed live for those that cannot join us in person.
DAMES & DRAMS
This is a recurring event!
Dames & Drams is our monthly gathering where the membership and those interested in finding out more about SAWS gather (virtually and/or in person) to participate in a variety of programs including the occasional happy hour. Visit our Events page to learn more!
